The accounts for last year will be presented at the AGM and provisionally the surplus is expected to be over £2,100. The accumulated fund, or reserves, held by the Association at the end of 2007 was about £5,800 excluding funds held for the Village Plan expenditure and the re-lettering of the War Memorial.
During 2007, the Association made a payment of £725 towards the cost of the hanging baskets in the village which was financed by donations from MVDC and 5 local estate agents and one individual. In 2008, the Association is seeking further donations from local businesses and others to finance the hanging baskets as MVDC has cut its funding to 25% of the total cost. In addition the Association made a number of donations including the new Scouting Centre and Don’t Drive Our Children Away campaign.
The surplus is larger than in previous years and arose because of the decision made at the AGM in 2006 to increase the subscription to £2. A major reason was to enable the Association to fund suitable projects where alternative monies were unavailable like the refurbishment of the War Memorial. The Committee would welcome suggestions from residents for suitable ways to distribute funds. If you have any ideas for consideration, put them in writing to the Secretary, Iden Coleman at 12 Meadow Way, Bookham KT23 3NY.
Anyone unable to attend the AGM can obtain a copy of the accounts by contacting Chris D Pullan, Hon Treasurer on 454582.
